* Browns Hill Quarry and Tilton Railway Cutting *
Sunday July 5, 2015 | 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
This field trip is really shaping up to be a great day out. The field secretary has put a lot of time and effort into organising this event. There will be further details to follow ASAP as we are fine tuning the logistics between the two sites. Parking is one of the major problems for parties visiting the Tilton Railway Cutting. This may require the need for some car sharing from Browns Hill Quarry to Tilton Railway Cutting.
The plan so far is we are meeting at Browns Hill Quarry for 11 am on Sunday 5th July 2015.
We will explore Browns Hill, then after lunch we can leave some cars at Browns Hill and go on to Tilton in some of our cars parking is limited at Tilton hence the car sharing.
Once we are finished at Tilton for say 4 pm We will travel back to Browns Hill quarry to finish. Tilton is about 25 km from Browns Hill.
The other option is to park a majority of the cars at Tilton village and take some of the cars to the Railway cutting.
Ive attached a PDF file and a link below. To which both are excellent resources of what to expect at these sites.

For all quarry visits hard hats, reflective jackets and suitable footwear are essential, some sites also require eye protection. Some sites will allow under 16′s under adult supervision but please check beforehand, the supervisor will also need to wear the appropriate safety gear.
Members should appreciate that they are responsible for their own safety.
Field trip organisers will advise to all members attending the field trip beforehand on appropriate clothing and footwear for the locality, time of year and as recommended Orange Hi-Vis Vests.
Failure by participants to wear recommended clothing and equipment may lead to their exclusion from the meeting. The Stamford and District Geological Society does not automatically provide personal protective equipment.
The society’s insurance is against 3rd parties.
With all field events please use the online booking form or send a text to our field secretary Kenny Nye. At least 10 days in advance so we can cater for numbers.
The SDGS has the right to cancel or reschedule a field trip with as much notice as possible. In the unlikely event of cancellation, all registered participants will be notified by email and offered to join alternative field trips. If a fossil hunt is cancelled on the day of the event due to unforeseen circumstances such as extreme weather, SDGS will not be able to accept responsibility for any additional costs or inconvenience resulting from the cancellation.
You can cancel your place at any point before a fossil hunt, the more notice given the better, if possible.
