* Winter Talk by Colin Bagshaw…titled * The Galapagos *

Wednesday December 9, 2015 | 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm

THE  GALAPAGOS  ISLANDS

The Galapagos Islands are famous for inspiring Charles Darwin to develop his theories related to Evolution. Many of the species of birds and animals living there are found nowhere else on Earth.   The islands themselves, however, are also of great geological interest as a series of oceanic volcanoes which contrast with those found in the Andes mountain chain on the nearby continent of South America.

How this contrasting geology came about and the fauna possibly evolved are the topics discussed in this talk.
